WAS KING MOSES DISSING NTATE STUNNA ON 'DONE PLAYING NICE'?
In 2019, ‘Lerato Le Felile’ won King Moses Top 2 Best Song In Lesotho at the LS Billboard Charts Awarding Ceremony, with Jennie Kay being on Top 1. The artist dropped an album full of smashes and titled it FAITH. 2020 came and most artists were in a sinking ship as there were no bookings and almost everything was shutdown, but King Moses was working by then. He started working on his new album ‘HOPE’, which is said to drop November 28th.
Login Radio had an interesting chat with King Moses on the 4th episode of ‘#The_Clout_Entrepreneur’, and this is how the podcast began:
King Moses, how do you introduce King Moses to potential fans and supporters? Who really is King Moses? Why did you transform your music brand from Yung Moses to King Moses?
“I use new marketing strategies, for example I pay influential people on social media to post my new songs links so I can reach more people...”. The king said he tries all he can to reach as many people as possible. He said he transformed from Young Moses to King Moses due to growth in his music career. “music is my life, my future and the reason I wake up in the morning. I make music, from rapping, singing, I mean I do almost everything as far as music is consent”. 'Lerato Le felile' hitmaker pointed out that a lot has changed in the music industry since the time he joined the music industry. Poor quality was one big problem back then, “majita e ne e ka ba hatisetsa ka ntloaneng”, Moses mentioned. Today Mzanzi record labels cannot resist the heat from Lesotho, recording studios are better, artists are investing more in visuals and marketing. On the point of why does he make music, King Moses said he believes he’s a vessel in which God passes His message to His people, even though he does not make Gospel music. talk of Faith, his previous album, and now he’s working on Hope, you can tell this is a spiritual person.
What Makes You Bounce Back Whenever You Get Knocked Down By Certain Life Situations?
“Hope...Hope. I have hope that one day I’m gonna make it. I’m gonna ride that international stage with those big stars that we see on TV and movies. I have hope that one day I will inspire someone to do better and to actually be better. I have hope and faith that I was brought to this earth for a reason, you know. And above all it’s to serve.” King Moses spoke like a king. He continued mentioning Nelson Mandela as his role model in creating legacy. He said he wants to leave a legacy for his children and grand children.
What is your worst case scenario in your music journey? And how did overcome whatever you were facing?
“Hahaha, kena le character ena e ntenang dah (I have this character that I hate). It’s a bit of arrogance and I hate it. I worked with one of the biggest artists in Lesotho and... our pride and ego clashed and because of that we didn’t workout, hence I dropped the song(diss) ‘Done Playing Nice’” The rapper said. In the song Done Playing Nice, Megahertz(Ntate Stunna) is an artist who has been mentioned, and knowing that Ntate Stunna and King Moses were part of the team that was formed by Mr Mokherane, we have no doubt that the king is talking about Ntate Stunna. “I am angry at myself, because had I not acted egotistic, we could have done great together for we were two power houses”, Lebohang Libaba said.
Contrary to what the education system taught us, faith is the key to success, without faith in what you do, you are just wasting your precious time doing it. In his album ‘Faith’, King Moses said he is talking to the fans and to himself. “I’m talking to my fans man, every body who has lost faith in God, in your dreams, in yourself... because sometimes life can push you to give up on some things, to stop believing in yourself, and you lose faith in people around you... So I was talking to you as a listener and a consumer of my music...”. The award winner explained that he motivated and inspired himself and any person who was going through tough times by then or at the time they jam to the album. The reason to why King Moses is working on a new album is because his fans really got the message that he conveyed in the previous album Faith.
In one of your songs you mentioned your girlfriend and you having lost your baby, how did you feel when you lost your baby? Are you still an item with the lady whom you had the loss with?
“Hahaha...you had to go there! Okay I was in a very serious relationship, those kind that you can get married anytime...having plans like that, obviously you're gonna have a baby. She had a miscarriage, that was the hardest time of my life and most people don’t know about it...” King Moses continued and said Login Radio through Elnolo(the interviewer) is actually the first person he opens up to about this issue. He said currently he and the lady are not an item but there is nothing that he would want more than being with her. Midnight Lover hitmaker said the lady was a complete blessing and she inspired so many songs that he created, songs like Lekhele La hau, Midnight Lover, Sunny Day and many others.

The artist has been working with the Famo music genre legend, Moeketsi ‘Malere. People who grew up in Lesotho in the early 2000s will know the late Famo artist Famole, Moeketsi ’Malere was with him and they were always incredible together, RIP to Famole. King Moses said he picked Moeketsi ‘Malere for his ability to diversify his skills in music. “...so I put up Ntate Moeketsi Malere in my projects because he is so diverse, he hears a trap beat he kills it. I mean no one can think that he is from the Famelo era where there was no hip-hop in Lesotho...check out our Tlatlamacholo music video on YouTube.” King Moses always mentions or at least talks about God in every project, he said this is because he made a deal with God that if He gives him his future which is music success, he will serve him forever. Maybe that is why he named himself after the Israelites leader Moses. Having said that, King Moses broke down what inspired the song Tlatlamacholo. “Tlatlamacholo is a thanksgiving song...we have gone through a lot in 2020...but despite all that you and I are still breathing. Plus Tlatlamacholo is a prayer for Basotho, this is to remind us as Basotho who we are and where we come from, as per to where the video was shot, which is Thaba-Bosiu...”
Your upcoming album HOPE? you talked FAITH and now HOPE, How are the two projects different? What energy did you put in HOPE? Why is the album special to you? What can we expect from the album? any big names? When is it dropping?
“In Hope there is a lot growth, what you heard in Faith you are not gonna hear in Hope...I tried by all means to be original...” King Moses said. He said with Hope there is diversity and he accommodated trap with his Sotho style that slaps, at the same time he is passing the message that in 30 years time will still be relevant. The album is special to King Moses because of the point in life he is at. “...I’m at the point where I only have hope...” King Moses said his family is everything, they have his back and they support him like nobody else and they are the reason why he wakes up and makes music because he wants them to be proud of him and be like, “Yoh! That’s my brother.”. This we see in his music video Tlatlamacholo and the pictures he has been posting on his social media (see the above picture).
Wrapping it up, King Moses was part of the few chosen to be in a grew that Mr Mokherane sponsored, the team was formed by Megahertz(Ntate Stunna), Jiji-F, Malome Vector, King Moses, Nthako, Kopper Waleh and others that we did not know of. It seems like the team did not work out for other artists. But for Ntate Stunna it somehow worked out for he still works with Mr Mokherane to date (10.16.2020).
